Claims guidance

A clear next step after a loss.

For immediate danger or an emergency, call 911. When you’re safe, follow your insurer’s claim-reporting process. Our agency can help you find the right contact.

Start with safety. Then gather the details.

  1. Get to a safe place

Seek emergency help when needed. Avoid entering damaged or unsafe areas.

  2. Record what happened

When safe, gather the date, location, photos, involved-party details, and any report number. For property damage, keep receipts for necessary temporary measures.

  3. Contact your carrier

Have your policy number and a description of the loss ready. Follow the carrier’s instructions and keep your claim number for follow-up.

This is general preparation guidance. Your carrier will explain its reporting process and evaluate coverage under your policy. Property claim preparation · Auto claim preparation.

Reporting & follow-up

Reach your insurance company.

Agency email and service forms are reviewed during office hours. They are not emergency claim-reporting channels. Auto-Owners asks customers to contact their independent agent first; its after-hours line is listed above.
